Catholic Central 38 Howell 0 (Playoffs)

HOWELL - The Howell Highlanders (8-1), who were ranked 10th in Division 1 (Detroit Free Press) met Detroit Catholic Central (DCC) (7-2) for what proved to be a huge challenge. Most of the over 5,000 in attendance expect to see DCC in the Michigan State Final Championship game.  DCC racked up over 300 yards of offense, while the DCC defense was the strongest Howell has faced all season by far.  Howell finishes the season at eight wins and two losses for what is one of the best records at Howell in a long time.  Congratulations KVC Champions!

Howell 37 Jackson 14

HOWELL - The Highlanders (8-1) wrapped up their KVC Championship season Friday night by beating Jackson 37-14. After an even first half tied 14-14, the Highlanders bolted ahead with over 242 yards of second half offense and 328 total yards of offense on the night. Richie Wilson scored five touchdowns while rushing for 176 yards, and 944 rushing yards on the season. For the third week in a row, the Howell defense shut out their opponent in the second half. The Howell defense led by Ryan Root (with 13 tackles on the defensive production chart) held Jackson to just 99 yards of total offense in the second half. A new season is now on hand as Howell (8-1) will play host to Detroit Catholic Central (7-2) in the first round of the Division 1, Region 1 play-offs Friday night at 7pm at the Parker Campus.

Howell 24 South Lyon 14

SOUTH LYON-The Howell Highlanders defeated S. Lyon Friday night to become the 2007 Kensington Valley Conference Champions. After making adjustments at half time, Howell dominated both sides of the ball to clinch the KVC title for the first time in thirteen years at Howell. Also, with the creation of the Kensington Lakes Activities Association Super Conference next season, Howell will go down in history as the last team to be reigning KVC football Champs. Sophomore, Bryce Lindberg ran for 157 yards Friday night while the Howell defense shut out their opponent in the second half for the 2nd week in a row. Howell (7-1) plays host for “Parents Night” to Jackson (4-4) on Friday night who lost to Everett last week 34-8. Friday will also be Howell Jr. Football night.

Howell 21 Brighton 7

HOWELL - The traditional brown jug, that the winner of the Howell, Brighton game holds, is back in Howell as the Highlanders pounded the Bulldogs Friday night, 21-7.  Evan Rhoads passed for 226 yards, ran for 24 accounting for 250 yards of Howell's 348 yards of offense Friday night.  The game was locked up at 7-7 into the 3rd quarter when Rhoads hit Craig Heger for a 95 yard TD reception.  The highlander defense held strong keeping Brighton out of the end zone in the 2nd half for what proved to be the clincher.  Howell (6-1) travels to South Lion (5-2, who lost to Novi last week 24-7) to play for the KVC championship Friday night.

Howell 29 Lakeland 24

LAKELAND - The Howell Highlanders (5-1) went to battle Friday night and remain on top of the KVC with a big win over Lakeland Eagles (4-2).  Richie Wilson led the way with 146 yards rushing, Evan Rhoads was 9 for 19 with 108 yards finding Luke Williams for 5 receptions and 54 yards.  Howell with a very explosive offense now leads the KVC in scoring offense to date.  "The true character of our team was revealed tonight coming from behind on three different occasions for the win," Coach Jim Webb noted.  At the mid point of the 4th quarter, Howell went up by 11 points, the defense holding strong for the win.  Howell will battle to remain on top of the KVC taking on cross-town rival Brighton at the Parker Campus on Friday night before what could be a record crowd.  Brighton (3-3) comes to Howell after losing to Novi 3-14.

Howell 30 Pinckney 27 (Homecoming)

HOWELL- Homecoming at Howell was an exciting event as over 5,000 fans came out to see Howell win over Pinckney 30-27.  Howell jumped to a commanding 20-7 lead in the first Quarter. Robin Witjes stepped up and led the rushing with 97 yards on 23 carries.  "Pinckney always brings their A game against us" Howell coach Jim Webb commented.  When the night ended, no matter how you look at it, Howell moves back into first place in the Kensington Valley Conference (KVC).  Next week, Howell goes on the road to play Lakeland who lost this week to Novi 10-9.

Novi 13, Howell 9

HOWELL - A Novi coach leaving the Parker campus Friday night said, "We stole one from here tonight."   Whether it was stolen or given away, a very good Novi team came into Howell and battled to the end, going ahead for the only time of the game with just 1:30 left in the 4th quarter after Howell fumbled and gave Novi the ball on the Howell 41 yard line.   Statistically, both teams finished close to even in almost every category with each gaining over 200 yards of offense.   Novi scored two touchdowns on the night, while Howell was 3 for 3 on field goals.   A huge highlight of the night for> Howell, was Craig Heger's career high, 53 yard field goal.    Howell drops to a 4-way tie in the KVC at 3-1 on the season, and Pinckney comes to Howell Friday night for Homecoming.

Howell 24, Milford 21

MILFORD Howell soars to a big win over top ten ranked Milford Friday night jumping to a 24-7 lead in the 3rd quarter.  Howell slowed the tempo in the 4th quarter a bit and allowed Milford to score two late touchdowns to make it close.  Howell controlled the ball for over 30 minutes of the game.  Richie Wilson ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns on the night and caught a touchdown pass.  Evan Rhoads was almost perfect throwing 8-10 passes for over 100 yards before throwing a late interception, his first of the season.  Luke Williams caught 3 critical passes totally 49 yards.  Howells defense held strong to a very good offensive team.  Chris Janes and Ryan Root combined for over 10 tackles holding Milford to just 90 yards rushing.  Next week Howell plays host to a very tough Novi team.

Howell 17, Hartland 7

HOWELL - Howell tailback Richie Wilson showed up again Friday night with 41 carries for 183 yards, and one reception for 41 yards giving him 224 yards on the nights total offense.  Wilson gives credit to his offensive line who controlled the line of scrimmage in the 2nd half.  Luke Williams added another 30 yards on 2 critical receptions.  The offense amassed 271 yards.  Evan Rhoades had a good passing night going 6-10 for 93 yards.  After a 7-7 first half, Howell made some adjustments at half time, holding Hartland to just 24 yards of offense in the 2nd half until a 30 yard run by Hartland, the last play of the game as the clock expired.  Craig Heger sealed the win with 1:12 left in the game with a 36 yard field goal, his first of the season.  The Highlanders travel to Milford on Friday to take on the 2006 KVC Championship team.
